ABOUT BRENNER REIKI HEALING: Healing. Health. Harmony. Empowering You on Your Journey to Health and Wellness
BRENNER REIKI HEALING POLICIES
Background and Training
I am a Reiki Master Teacher, working with people of all ages who wish to utilize Reiki for general wellness, stress reduction, and emotional healing, as well as for specific tension or pain problems. I offer both in person Reiki sessions and distant healing treatments, as well as classes in all levels of Reiki.
I trained in Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki with Master Teachers in Massachusetts, and am a Registered Reiki Practitioner with the International Association of Reiki Professionals. I participate in several Reiki clinics in the Greater Boston Area. In addition, Brenner Reiki Healing provides its own low-cost monthly Reiki Clinic. I worked as a hospice volunteer with CARE Alternatives, offering Reiki to hospice patients, and am currently a Brigham and Women's Hospital Reiki Volunteer. I am CPR certified and hold a Ph.D. in Anthropology. Brenner Reiki Healing is conveniently located 15 minutes from downtown Boston, easily accessible by car or by public transportation.
Intention
I strongly believe that Reiki is a supportive and valuable modality for both physical and emotional well-being and healing. I am grateful for discovering Reiki for its uplifting results in my own life and in the lives of family, friends, and clients. Reiki can restore balance and harmony to all of the body's systems. Those who use Reiki regularly often find they are more joyful and lively, as their own built-in capacity for healing becomes enhanced by Reiki. By breaking down existing conflicts and blockages, greater vitality is released. Reiki empowers the recipient by reaching the deepest physical mental, emotional, and spiritual levels. Moreover, the recipient takes an active part in the healing process by drawing in Reiki with life-enhancing results.
Who Can Benefit
Reiki can be used for general wellness as well as for specific physical and emotional health conditions. Reiki works by assisting in reducing stress, which in turn creates an environment within the body where healing may more easily be facilitated. In my practice I have had positive results with clients in working with problems related to excess tension, anxiety, chronic pain, insomnia, headaches, fatigue, pre-surgical anxiety, post-surgical recovery, vestibular disorders, fibromyalgia, sciatica, and mild-to-moderate depression. Although many people seek Reiki for specific ailments, beneficial healing results frequently go beyond the particular condition, as those who use Reiki report feeling more energized, more grounded, more relaxed, and more at ease.
Client/Practitioner Expectations
The first session begins with a brief interview. I will ask you a few questions so that I may plan the most beneficial session/series of sessions for your needs. Please keep in mind that privacy and confidentiality are maintained at all times. I subscribe to the International Association of Reiki Professionals' (IARP) Code of Ethics as posted in my treatment room. A Reiki session is performed on a massage table with the client fully clothed.
A Reiki session starts with the client lying face up resting comfortably. I will complete the standard Reiki hand positions. If you indicate in the interview or at the beginning of the session that you wish for me to pay specific attention to a particular injury or issue, I will also concentrate on that area during the session. In a typical session, the head and torso are worked on first, followed by the back and feet. Clients can ask for different parts of the body to be worked on, or not worked on. A Reiki treatment may be conducted with my hands on the body or just above the body. Clients are always encouraged to discuss this with me at the beginning of the session. Clients should be prepared to turn off cell phones and pagers and not to interrupt the session with telephone calls.
During the session, clients are encouraged to relax and inform me if anything makes them uncomfortable, either physically or psychologically. Please feel free to talk with me regarding feedback during the session. I often will talk with you before or after, usually not during, as I want you to relax fully during the session. If, however, something feels uncomfortable during the session, please speak up immediately; I want to know as soon as possible. For example, if a client needs the rest room during a session, this is absolutely permitted.
- I reserve the right to refrain from working on a person who is under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
- There is no smoking on the premises of the treatment room.
- Sexual harrassment is not tolerated. If the practitioner's safety feels compromised, the session is stopped immediately.
- Clients who are sick, and may be infectious, should postpone their appointment, or at least call to discuss the situation.
Distance Reiki Treatments
- I will communicate with the client over the phone and/or email to learn about your needs and expectations.
- We will set up mutually convenient times for the distance healing sessions, during which I will ask you to relax comfortably.
- Following each session, the client and I can again communicate by phone and/or email.
Appointment Policies
- Each in person session is 60 minutes long.
- The first appointment, which includes a history and an assessment, lasts approximately 75 minutes.
- If a client is late for a treatment session, the session still falls within the 60-minute allotted time slot.
- If I am late, the session lasts the full 60 minutes or the treatment rate is discounted.
- If you wish to cancel an appointment, you must do so 24 hours in advance, or you are charged for the full amount of the session unless the appointment can be filled. Please leave a message on the answering machine, including the date and time of your call. Emergency cancellations are not charged for at the practitioner's discretion. If I need to cancel an appointment, I do so within 24 hours whenever possible. If I cannot do so, your next session is at no charge.
- All of the appointments occur at 324 Central Street.
- House calls will be considered for special cases.
- I return calls within 24 hours, unless I am out of town.
Fees
- If during my assessment I determine with reasonable certainty that my work won't help you, we end the session at that time and you are not charged for the initial appointment.
- Hour long Reiki sessions are $65.00
- House call fees vary by distance, but usually range from $70-$80.
- If you would like a 1 1/2 hour session, the charge is $80.
- Payment is due at the time of service. I accept cash and checks. I do not bill clients nor do I provide direct billing for insurance.
- Individuals who have financial constraints are welcome to discuss this with me to see what can be worked out, such as a sliding scale, or referral to Brenner Reiki Healing's monthly Reiki clinic.
Professionalism
- Our profession adheres to a code of ethical behavior, which is available upon request. I follow all of the statements in this ethical code and have strong beliefs that practitioners and their clients shouldn't engage in intimate social relationships.
- Personal and professional boundaries are respected at all times.
- I perform services for which I am qualified (professionally, physically, and emotionally) and able to do, and refer to appropriate specialists when work is not within my scope of practice or not in the client's best interests.
- I customize my treatment to meet the client's needs.
- I keep accurate records and review changes before each session.
- I respect all clients regardless of their age, gender, race, national origin, sexual orientation, religion, socioeconomic status, body type, and state of health.
